TKO from Rocky

To announce that our daughter Rebecca (who has a 1 in 10,000,000 rare genetic disorder) got into a groundbreaking clinical trial at Seaver Autism Center at Mount Sinai in NYC, we used a clip from Rocky of Sylvester Stallone running through Philadelphia and up the steps of the art museum.

I wrote to his friend to see if he would consider recording a short video message for Driven - my new book project about overcoming obstacles - since he has a son with autism.

Here’s what happened.

Thank you for calling yesterday and for sending the correspondence regarding Driven

I will take the opportunity to sift through the information and to forward your inquiry to Sylvester Stallone.

Once I have a response or a decision from Mr. Stallone we will contact you directly.

Thank you again,

I am sorry, but Sylvester Stallone is going to respectfully decline to participate in any activities for Driven

I want to wish you the best of luck with the book as well as with all the efforts on behalf of Rebecca.

Your love, dedication and genuine desire to see that your daughter has a truly enjoyable life is abundantly clear.  We know you will succeed in your goals and we will certainly be happy for you and your family as you progress.

Thank you again,

Sly Stallone’s friend

What am I going to tell my mother.

She just bought boxing gloves.

Somehow I'll break it to her.

I thought you might enjoy the new video on:

And thanks again for trying with Sly.

Jon

P.S.  My mom's feeling a little better.  She's actually glad she bought the gloves - she wrote "your dad needs a little schooling now and then" - go figure!

Jon

I enjoyed seeing the photograph of your mother with the boxing gloves, it gave me a smile and happy little break from the day’s work.

I am glad to know she is feeling better, clearly you are a caring and loving family man, the women in your life should be feeling very lucky.

All the best

That wasn't really my mom.  She's somewhere in Arizona now on vacation with my dad.

Glad I could give you a laugh. Feel free to pass it along to Sly - I think he would get a laugh out of it too.  We parents of kids with special needs need to laugh a lot to keep our sanity and to drown out the sorrow.

Jon

P.S.  Rebecca loves me.  Michey does too but thinks I am a major pain in the butt.

Even though Sly opted out, we have great rewards to knock your socks off in connection with my new book project.

Backers of Driven can enjoy:

A VIP lunch at Nobu NY, the flagship restaurant of Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, partner of restaurateur Drew Nieporent and Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro.

Get on THE RIDE, a super-sized, technologically amped up vehicle that travels the streets of New York with stadium-style, sideways seating and massive windows, followed by a fireside chat (brick oven fire that is) about the book at the world famous John's Pizza in Times Square.

Enjoy a night at one of the best keep secrets in New York, Chambers, located in one of NYC’s best neighborhoods, West 56th St. near 5th Ave.

An exclusive NYC book launch party in the fall at a cool NYC location (to be announced) ... and more:
